![]() Samuel J. Keith, M.D. Milton Rosenbaum Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology Chairman, Department of Psychiatry University of New Mexico Dr. Keith has been at the University of New Mexico for the past 14 years, where he has built a department of psychiatry whose members bring a diverse set of skills and interests to bear on a broad spectrum of mental health issues. His own interests have centered primarily on schizophrenia and mood disorders. Before moving to New Mexico, he spent 20 years at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), where he headed the Schizophrenia Research Program. He also directed both the Division of Epidemiology and Services Research and the Division of Clinical and Treatment Research, and for many years edited “Schizophrenia Bulletin.” During his last three years at NIMH, he served as Acting Deputy Director. Dr. Keith has served on numerous national committees and advisory boards, including the DSM III-R and DSM-IV workgroup on schizophrenia, and has published widely on the treatment and diagnosis of schizophrenia, emphasizing the integration of biological and psychosocial aspects of the illness. Dr. Keith has been a member of NARSAD’s Scientific Council since its inception in 1986. |
