Planned Giving

EmailPrint
When you give cash, stock, or other property to a NARSAD life income plan, you save taxes, support NARSAD and receive an income for life. NARSAD can structure a planned gift to meet your needs and goals:
  • Increase current or future retirement income
  • Reduce estate liability for your heirs
  • Avoid capital gains taxes on appreciated assets
  • Pass assets intact to heirs
  • Increase income tax deductions
  • Plan strategies for future income
  • Create a portion of tax-free income
  • Endow a program or project in which you have a special interest
  • Donate a larger gift to NARSAD than current income permits

» Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust
Charitable Remainder Annuity Trusts can be established to hold your property in trust to pay a fixed annuity to you, and to others you may name, over your lifetime or term of years, and then designate that NARSAD receive the principal. Thus, you can supplement retirement income, earn a sizable tax deduction for the gift, and provide an annuity to other beneficiaries before the principal goes to NARSAD; for example, a scholarship fund for grandchildren.

» Charitable Lead Trust
Through the creation of a Charitable Lead Trust you may be able to save substantial estate tax when transferring your estate. During your life, a yearly annuity from the trust would benefit NARSAD and, at your death, all remaining trust assets would pass to your beneficiaries. Since only the value of the remainder interest is considered a taxable gift to your beneficiaries, this would represent a great tax savings compared to passing those same assets to beneficiaries through your Will. Further, you would be able to have the satisfaction of having NARSAD employ the fruits of your gift to NARSAD throughout your life.

» Charitable Gift Annuity
It is possible to make a gift of significance to NARSAD that will produce guaranteed annual income to you or someone you designate--beginning immediately or deferred until retirement. A gift in the form of cash, securities, or another asset can be used to fund a Charitable Gift Annuity from which you can receive a charitable tax deduction, enjoy a part-taxable, part-tax-free annual income, avoid capital gains taxes if the gift is appreciated stock, and make a meaningful gift to NARSAD during your life.

You can lock-in high fixed rates of return and get tax deductions now. With a NARSAD Charitable Gift Annuity you can create a gift of $10,000 or more. In return, for the rest of your life, you will receive an annuity that pays a percentage of the value of your gift depending upon your age. For gifts of appreciated securities there are additional tax benefits as well.

» Life Insurance
You can irrevocably name NARSAD owner and beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy and receive an immediate tax deduction, or you may retain ownership and simply name NARSAD the beneficiary or contingent beneficiary. You can purchase a policy that you donate to NARSAD, and make tax-deductible contributions to cover future premium payments.

» Bequests
In providing for NARSAD in your Will you demonstrate what you cherish and what you want perpetuated. At the same time, a charitable bequest offers practical tax advantages, reducing the size of your estate subject to taxes, possibly allowing you to make a larger gift than you initially considered.
