St. Louis Symposium and Dinner
St. Louis, MO

NARSAD and the Sidney R. Baer, Jr. Foundation are pleased to present the third annual St. Louis Mental Health Research Symposium and Dinner. The event takes place on Saturday, April 1st, 1 to 5 p.m, at the Center of Creative Arts (COCA), 524 Trinity Avenue. Four renowned NARSAD-supported scientists from Washington University School of Medicine will present their latest findings in brain and behavior research. The panel of speaker will be moderated by Herbert Y. Meltzer, M.D., Professor of Psychiatry and Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University. The presentations include:

  • Depression in Young Children: Early Intervention and Long-term Outcomes, Joan L. Luby, M.D. (Independent Investigator 2004), Associate Professor of Child Psychiatry


  • New Discoveries on Depression and Brain Circuitry, Yvette I. Sheline, M.D. (Independent Investigator 2002, 2005), Professor of Psychiatry, Radiology and Neurology


  • Genes and Environment in the Development of Schizophrenia, Amelia Gallitano-Mendel, M.D., Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2004), Instructor of Psychiatry


  • Antipsychotic Medication and Risk of Cardiovascular Disease, John W. Newcomer, M.D. (Independent Investigator 2001), Professor of Psychiatry, Psychology and Medicine.
The symposium will be immediately followed by a dinner reception featuring Dr. Meltzer as the keynote speaker. Admission to the symposium is free but reservations are required. Tickets to the dinner are $175 per person.
