What are the grant timelines/deadlines? 2008 Young Investigator Award guidelines are available for reference only. Applications were due on July 25, 2007, with a grant start date of July 1, 2008. 2008 Independent Investigator Award guidelines are available for reference only. Applications were due on March 5, 2008, with a grant start date of September 15, 2008. Applications for 2009 will be accepted starting February 1, 2009, with a deadline of March 5, 2009. 2009 Distinguished Investigator Award guidelines are available. Applications for 2009 are currently being accepted with a May 15, 2008, deadline. 2008 Staglin Family Music Festival NARSAD Schizophrenia Research Award guidelines are available for reference only. Applications were due on December 4, 2007, with a grant start date of September 15, 2008. 2008 Staglin Music Festival NARSAD Rising Star Research Awards guidelines are available for reference only. Applications for 2008 were due April 16, 2008. The earliest grant start date is September 15, 2008. What types of disciplines and research have received funding from NARSAD? Recipients of NARSAD's awards represent an extraordinary variety of disciplines. Research has included (but is not limited to) studies in: genetics, neurobiology, molecular biology, imaging, neurochemical studies, neurophysiology, electrophysiology, clinical psychopharmacology, descriptive clinical studies, epidemiological research, treatment modalities, cognition studies, and outcome and prevention research. Research has been funded in (but is not limited to) the following areas: Alzheimer's Disease (in relation to psychiatric disorder/s), Anxiety Disorder, Asperger's Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism and its Subtypes, Bipolar Disorder (previously Manic Depression), Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Dementia, Depersonalization Disorder, Depression and its Subtypes (including Postpartum Depression), Eating Disorders, Fragile X Syndrome, Huntington's Disease (in relation to psychiatric disorder/s), Memory Disorders (in relation to psychiatric disorder/s), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Parkinson's Disease (in relation to psychiatric disorder/s), Personality Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, Schizophrenia and Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders, Schizoaffective Disorder, Schizotypal Personality Disorder, Stress, Substance Abuse, Suicide, and Tourette's Syndrome (in relation to psychiatric disorders). How are grants reviewed? To ensure support of the highest quality and most promising research, NARSAD's international, volunteer Scientific Council reviews all grant applications and provides recommendations for funding to the NARSAD Board of Directors. Does NARSAD offer prizes or recognition for scientists? NARSAD recognizes scientists through awards/prizes, and through an annual Young Investigator Symposium held each year. Does NARSAD support international researchers? Yes. Eligible international applicants are welcome to apply (either in or outside the U.S.). How often are the four programs (Young, Independent, Distinguished, Staglin) offered? Each award program is offered yearly. |
