Deborah L. Levy, Ph.D.
Independent Investigator
Deborah Levy received both her Bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. She is currently the Director of Psychology Research Laboratory in McLean Hospital, and is also Associate Professor of Psychology in Harvard Medical School. She is a previous 2004 Independent Investigator, and was a Philip S. Holzman Memorial Investigator.
Dr. Levy’s current research interests include endophenotypes. Endophenotypes are traits that are associated with a clinical disorder (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder) and that also occur in clinically well relatives at a much higher rate than the clinical disorder itself. Capitalizing on the higher prevalence of endophenotypes may improve power to detect susceptibility genes. In this proposal we examine the specificity and sensitivity of two candidate endophenotypes for bipolar disorder.
