Yuval Bloch, M.D.
Young Investigator
Dr. Bloch graduated medical school in the medical school of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. His M.D. thesis on "Soft neurological signs in patients suffering from schizophrenia" was honored by the medical school. He specialized both in general psychiatry and in child and adolescent psychiatry, in "Shalvata Mental Health Center". As of February 2003 he is head of the psychiatric outpatient clinic for children and adolescents in "Shalvata Mental Health Center". As of spring 2006, he was nominated lecturer in psychiatry in the "Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv". His research is focused on brain stimulation in adolescents. In 2001-2006 his work was focused on studying the use of ECT in adolescents. He received a "NARSAD young investigator award" in 2003 that contributed to his research in the field studying both clinical and ethical aspects of the use of ECT in adolescents. As of 2006 he is working with advanced techniques of brain stimulation i.e. repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for treating adolescents. His NARSAD award is intended to support the project of treating adolescents suffering from resistant depression with repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.
