Young Investigator
Dr. Antonia Dow received her undergraduate degree from Pitzer College in 1999. In 2005, she received a Ph.D. in pharmacology from Yale University where she worked with Dr. Ronald S. Duman. Her thesis work focused on the regulation of the activin signaling pathway by antidepressant treatment and the effects of activin in rodent behavioral models of depression. She joined Dr. William Carlezon’s laboratory at Harvard Medical School/McLean Hospital as a postdoctoral fellow in 2005. Her current interests include finding mechanisms by which the brain is able to repair itself. In particular, Dr. Dow’s research focuses on hippocampal neurogenesis and prefrontal cortical cell proliferation and the role of antidepressants in modulating these processes.
