Alexander Fan, M.D.
Young Investigator
Alexander Hao Fan, M.D., is Associate Director of Inpatient Psychiatry Services in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Dr. Fan received his bachelor's degree with distinction from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville and his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville. He completed an internship and a residency in psychiatry at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Dr. Fan fulfilled a clinical fellowship in university mental health at Yale University and a research fellowship in mood disorders at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Neuropsychiatric Institute.
Dr. Fan's research interests include mood disorders, personality disorders and eating disorders. In 2005, he was awarded Janssen Pharmaceutica Research Award through the West Coast College of Biological Psychiatry. He is currently a principal investigator for a multi-site study, Memantine and Cognitive Dysfunction in Bipolar Disorder.
Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Fan is a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
