W. Gordon Frankle, M.D.
Young Investigator
W. Gordon Frankle, M.D., is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Radiology at the University of Pittsburgh and an attending in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. Frankle earned his bachelor of science degree in cell, molecular, and developmental biology at McGill University and earned his medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed residency in psychiatry at Massachusetts General/McLean Hospital and a subsequently a schizophrenia research fellowship at New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University. He also trained in the area of clinical nuclear medicine at the New York Presbyterian Hospital.
A member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Nuclear Medicine, Society for Neuroscience, and the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Frankle is the author or coauthor of numerous articles appearing in journals such as The American Journal of Psychiatry, Psychological Medicine, Psychiatric Services, Journal of NuclearMedicine, Neuropsychopharmacology, and Psychopharmacology. His research focuses on using positron emission tomography in the study of schizophrenia to explore the pathophysiology of this illness as well as the neuroanatomy of antipsychotic drug action.
