Juan Carlos Arevalo, Ph.D.
Young Investigator

Juan Carlos Arevalo graduated with a B.Sc. in biology, and completed a Ph.D. in molecular biology at the University of Salamanca in 1999. As a postdoctoral fellow, he carried out research at the Skirball Institute at NYU School of Medicine with Dr. Moses V. Chao from 2000 to 2007 studying the mechanisms underlying neurotrophin actions in the nervous system. At present, Dr. Arevalo is a 2006 “Ramón y Cajal” Award recipient and group leader at the Institute of Neurosciences of Castilla and Leon (INCYL), Salamanca (Spain), where he studies the molecular mechanisms underlying BDNF learning and memory. He was a recipient of a 2004 Basic Research Fellowship from the American Brain Tumor Association.
