Colleen A. Brenner, Ph.D.

Colleen A. Brenner, Ph.D.
Young Investigator

Dr. Colleen A. Brenner received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego and her Ph.D. in Clinical Science from Indiana University, Bloomington. She is currently a postdoctoral research fellow through Indiana University, Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI), and serve as the director of the Schizophrenia Research Laboratory within the Neuroscience and Clinical Research Center (NCRC) under the direction of Dr. Brian O’Donnell. Dr. Brenner received many funding awards throughout her graduate training, such as the NIMH predoctoral NRSA, the NIH Loan Repayment Award, the IU-Bloomington J.R. Kantor Award, and the IU-Bloomington GPSO Research Award.

The main focus of her laboratory is to investigate endophenotypes in schizophrenia using a variety of measures including; EEG, psychophysical tests of visual perception, neuropsychological function and personality characteristics in patients with schizophrenia, their relatives with and without SPD and healthy controls. The proposed project is an extension of this work, and her training objective as a postdoctoral research fellow is to obtain training in functional genomics. The addition of genetic analyses in this setting would allow her to directly test the relationship between cognitive and electrophysiological measures and specific gene expression.
