Jean-François Cloutier, Ph.D.
Young Investigator
Dr. Jean-François Cloutier received his Ph.D. degree from McGill University in 1999 where he studied the role of protein tyrosine phosphatases in the regulation of T-cell activation. He then joined the laboratories of Dr. David Ginty and Alex Kolodkin in the Department of Neurosciences at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine to examine the mechanisms regulating axonal guidance processes during neurodevelopment. He was awarded a NARSAD Young Investigator Award for this work in 2002. Dr. Cloutier became Assistant Professor at McGill University in 2004 where he is investigating the role of the Slitrk family of molecules during neurodevelopment. Mutations in a specific member of this family of molecules have been linked to Tourette’s Syndrome.
