Janice M. Fullerton, Ph.D.
Young Investigator
Dr. Janice M. Fullerton studied for her undergraduate Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree and postgraduate Doctor of Philosophy at The Murdoch Childrens’ Research Institute in The University of Melbourne (Melbourne, Australia). She then followed on to a postdoctoral position at The Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics in The University of Oxford (Oxford, UK), and is currently a NHMRC Howard Florey Centenary Fellow at The Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute in The University of New South Wales (Syndey, Australia). Her research interests are in complex genetics and psychiatric disorders, principally in determining the genetic causes for psychiatric illnesses including bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety. The NARSAD 2007 Young Investigator Award will be used to investigate the molecular causes of bipolar disorder, and identify the nucleotide variants causing altered expression of a bipolar disorder susceptibility gene in an Australian cohort.
