THE FREEDMAN AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING BASIC RESEARCH

The NARSAD Board of Directors established the Freedman Award in 1998 to honor the memory of a pioneer in biological psychiatry, Daniel X. Freedman, M.D. The Freedman Award is presented to NARSAD Young Investigators who have distinguished themselves through outstanding basic science research.

The Freedman Award Committee is comprised of NARSAD Scientific Council members with expertise in basic research. Each year, the committee selects the winner/s and honorable mention/s in the spring, and the honorees are subsequently invited to attend an awards ceremony in New York City in July.
