Joseph C. Blader, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2001) of Long Island Jewish Medical Center, will study the startle reflex to investigate emotional reactivity in emotionally labile boys with behavior disorders. He hypothesizes these boys will show greater startle increases with negative context stimuli than the control subjects. This finding would establish the startle modulation paradigm as a useful tool for further study of factors that influence these children's emotional reactions.
