Gildas Brebion, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2001) of King's College London, will attempt to determine which brain areas are involved in reality-monitoring deficits, i.e., the confusion between reality and imagination, in schizophrenic patients with hallucinations by administering three reality-monitoring tasks he designed. His work combines psychopathology, cognitive psychology and neuropsychology, and will add to the understanding of the neural substrates that support the confusion between representations and reality. It has implications for the development of more specific cognitive and behavioral treatments of hallucinations in patients with schizophrenia. Program Area: SCHIZOPHRENIA/PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS\Schizophrenia |
