Edward Bullmore, MRCP, MRCPsych, Ph.D. (Distinguished Investigator 2004) of University of Cambridge, will employ neuroimaging and genotyping to test in detail models of obsessive-compulsive disorder based on cortico-striato-thalamic brain systems. He will also seek to develop brain imaging techniques as a source for identifying endophenotypic markers (measurable components of illness unseen by the unaided eye) of genetic effects contributing to this complex disorder. He believes his results will have implications for the conceptual and methodological value in the planning and conduct of future studies seeking to combine imaging and genetics in a neurobiological understanding of other psychiatric disorders. Program Area: ANXIETY DISORDERS\Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) |
