Serge Campeau, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2000) of University of Colorado, Boulder, is attempting to identify specific brain structures that are responsible for regulating psychological stress. The study will explore the link between emotional activation and psychological stress in detail. The research strategy employed will make use of a method to identify changes in expression of a specific type of messenger RNA, following exposure to psychological stressors, including loud noise and bright lights. This approach may identify new brain targets specifically involved in the perception of psychological stressors that might be important in the development of mood disorders. Program Area: MOOD DISORDERS\Depression (Unipolar) |
