Thilo Deckersbach, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2001) of Massachusetts General Hospital, will investigate neural systems underlying a specific neuropsychological impairment called semantic clustering in patients with bipolar disorder. Semantic clustering relates to the ability to group words in related categories. Dr. Deckersbach will use positron emission tomography (PET) to examine the brain regions responsible for the semantic clustering disturbance. These scans will highlight those brain regions which become activated during administration of this task. Program Area: MOOD DISORDERS\Bipolar |
