Tuan Dong-Si, M.D. (Young Investigator 2004) of Ludwig Maximilians University, aims to test if genetic variations in candidate chromosomal regions are associated with schizophrenia. Dr. Dong-si plans on assaying 250 controls and 250 individuals with schizophrenia for 10 chromosomal regions implicated in schizophrenia. Two-hundred single nucleotide polymorphisms or SNPs spanning the regions will be investigated in pooled samples by MALDI-TOF, or matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry, a new method to perform DNA analysis. Program Area: SCHIZOPHRENIA/PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS\Schizophrenia |
