Jinbo Fan, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2007) of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, will focus on the 16.6-kb mitochondrial genome (mtDNA) and capture all common mtDNA variations. Dr. Fan plans to test the mtDNA variations and their association in bipolar disorder to determine their potential role of influence and susceptibility in bipolar disorder.
