Daniel M. Fass, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2007) of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, will study one specific molecule that neurons use to read their DNA--the transcription factor CREB. DNA contains a blueprint that directs the activity of all cells in the human body, including neurons. Errors in the mechanism by which neurons read their DNA blueprint may be an underlying cause of psychiatric disease. Dr. Fass hopes to identify drugs that improve the efficiency of CREB's ability to read the DNA blueprint in neurons. Program Area: MULTIPLE FOCUS\ADHD/Mood Disorders |
