Shelly K. Fleming-Ficek, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2001) of Stanford University, is proposing studies comparing neuropsychological impairment in patients with psychotic disorders who have, and do not have, a significant affective component (mania or depression). Furthermore, she will examine hormone levels in relation to cognitive impairment in these patients. These results may lead to new strategies to treat cognitive deficits in schizophrenic and other psychotic patients, one of the single most disabling aspects of these disorders. Program Area: MULTIPLE FOCUS AREAS\Schizophrenia/Psychotic Depression |
