Abby J. Fyer, M.D. (Distinguished Investigator 2001) of New York State Psychiatric Institute, is conducting a genetic study of panic disorder in a population isolate in the interior regions of Sardinia. Seventy-five groups of panic disorder patients and their biological parents will be recruited. Blood samples will be drawn, and DNA extracted and genotyped. Candidate genes will be investigated for associations with panic disorder. This work may lead to the eventual identification of genes that increase the risk of panic disorder. Program Area: ANXIETY DISORDERS\Panic Disorder |
