 Project Summary  Sonia Gasparini, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2002) of Louisiana State University, is studying how serotonin (5-HT), which modulates different voltage-dependent currents, can affect the integration of synaptic signals in neurons and therefore change their firing patterns. She will record actual synaptic inputs utilizing electrophysiological recordings. The experiments will directly test many important hypotheses concerning the normal and patho-physiological functioning of cortical neurons. Program Area: MOOD DISORDERS\Depression (Unipolar) |
