Kathryn E. Grant, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2000) of DePaul University, is examining the relation between stress and depression among low-income urban adolescents; and exploring the processes by which stress leads to depression in this population. Survey and interview data will be collected on 225 low-income urban adolescents once each year over a two year period. These data will include stressful life experiences, depressive symptoms, and potential mediating variables. This work may have important implications for our understanding of the impact of chronic disadvantage and exposure to violence on low-income urban youth. Program Area: MOOD DISORDERS\Depression (Unipolar) |
