Nicholas B. Hastings, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2002) of Princeton University, will investigate the link between early adverse life experience, stress-mediated adult hippocampal damage, and the development of various psychiatric illnesses including certain forms of depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. By studying a mechanism believed to be involved in the promotion of these effects (glucocorticolds), Dr. Hastings will seek to shed light on the cellular mechanisms by which early life experiences can result in the emergence of psychiatric illness later in life. Program Area: MULTIPLE FOCUS AREAS\Mood Disorders/Anxiety Disorders |
