Susan Ingram, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2003) of Oregon Health and Sciences University, will continue the exploration of the properties of dopamine transporter (DAT)-mediated currents, in mid-brain DA neurons and the role these current play in the regulation of synaptic transmission using cultures of individual neurons that form synapses onto themselves (autapses). She hopes to provide novel insight into the regulation of DA release in the midbrain and the actions of psychotherapeutic drugs. Dr. Ingram's data suggests that DAT can also stimulate the release of DA. Program Area: MULTIPLE FOCUS AREAS\Schizophrenia/Unipolar\Pharmacology |
