Alejandro Interian, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2003) of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, is developing a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) manual for individually treating Hispanics with major depression. The proposed manual would be developed for primary care use, which is where Hispanic patients are more likely to seek help for major depression and in Spanish. This study should help identify optimal treatments for Hispanics, which have largely been excluded from research efforts due to language barriers and trends of underutilizing mental health service. Program Area: MOOD DISORDERS\Depression (Unipolar)\Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) |
