Waguih W. IsHak, M.D. (Young Investigator 2005) of Cedars Sinai Medical Center and the University of California at Los Angeles, aims to develop a method to include patient perception of quality of life as an indicator of successful treatment of depression. In the study, Dr. IsHak will examine the relationship between impairment in quality of life and response to medications compared to combined treatments in a natural clinical setting. The study will also establish some norms for quality of life measurement in the natural clinical population. The results will contribute to the development and expansion of the concept of patient-based and clinician-based assessment methods, leading to increased focus on improving not only symptoms but also the overall sense of well being as a standard of practice. Program Area: MULTIPLE FOCUS AREAS\Anxiety Disorders/Unipolar Depression |
