Sanjiv Kumra, M.D. (Young Investigator 2002) of Long Island Jewish Medical Center, is investigating adolescent-onset schizophrenia not helped by the drug clozapine. This study will investigate lamotrigine augmentation therapy as a novel treatment option for adolescents who have failed to adequately respond to clozapine. Lamotrigine has been used successfully in the treatment of children partial seizures and adults with bipolar disorder. Early data suggests lamotrigine may be an effective augmentation strategy for clozapine-resistant patients with schizophrenia. Program Area: SCHIZOPHRENIA/PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS\Schizophrenia\Child/Adolescent (Early Onset) |
