Tao Li, M.D. (Young Investigator 2003) of Institute of Psychiatry, will attempt to identify and characterize susceptibility genes for schizophrenia, using linkage disequilibrium (LD) mapping in a Han Chinese population from SW China. Using a large sample she has collected in western China over several years, she will focus on mapping replicated linkage regions using markers within or around genes, giving priority to positional candidate genes from these regions. She will augment this information with data from the Human Genome Project Haplotype Initiative or other sources as they become available. Program Area: SCHIZOPHRENIA/PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS\Schizophrenia |
