Katherine L. Narr, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2003) of University of California, Los Angeles, will investigate abnormal patterns of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) brain activity in patients with schizophrenia and in healthy controls during a wide range of tasks that will test many different brain functions. These standardized tasks will probe brain functions known to be disturbed in schizophrenia, including memory, language, sensory and motor processing. By examining many different brain regions, rather than just one particular aspect of brain function, Dr. Narr will be able to map and clarify which brain regions show functional disturbances in schizophrenia. Program Area: SCHIZOPHRENIA/PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS\Schizophrenia |
