Kevin Ochsner, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2002) of Stanford University, will use functional magnetic resonance imaging to study reappraisal, a cognitive form of regulation that involves interpreting events in ways that alter one's emotional response. He will test hypotheses about possible dysfunction in this neural circuit that may be present in depression. As emotion dysregulation is a hallmark of depression, Dr. Ochsner will attempt to provide more information on the neural basis of this deficit. Program Area: MOOD DISORDERS\Depression (Unipolar) |
