Timothy J. Petersen, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2001) of Massachusetts General Hospital, will assess the relationship between the symptoms and subtypes of depression in a sample of adults, and the characteristics of depression and behavioral disturbances in their offspring. Children of parents with a history of unipolar depression are at higher risk of depression and behavioral problems. It is hypothesized that depressive features in adults will correlate with characteristics of depression in their affected offspring, and that offspring of adults with early onset depression will have increased aggression and delinquent acts. Program Area: MOOD DISORDERS\Depression (Unipolar) |
