Kerry J. Ressler, M.D., Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2002) of Emory University, will create transgenic mice to provide a new approach to examine the in vivo physiology of the specific neurons that produce Corticotropin Releasing Factor (CRF), a principle mediator of stress in the central nervous system (CNS), coupled with a method for their inducible ablation. Dr. Ressler's study aims to advance understanding of the role of CRF in the physiology of stress reponses and its possible role in the pathophysiology of depression and anxiety disorders. Program Area: MULTIPLE FOCUS AREAS\Mood Disorders/Anxiety Disorders |
