Josee Savard, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2002) of Laval University, will study depression in patients with advanced prostate cancer which may be caused by the hormone therapy used as treatment. Men receiving first-line hormone therapy for recently diagnosed prostate cancer will be evaluated for depression over a period of one year. The efficacy of cognitive therapy will also be assessed on this population. Though cognitive therapy has been identified as an empirically supported treatment for depression in non-medically ill individuals, it has never been assessed in patients with prostate cancer. Program Area: MOOD DISORDERS\Depression (Unipolar) |
