Sinthuja Sivagnanasundaram, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2002) of Institute of Child Health, will measure prepulse inhibition (PPI) to study information processing in schizophrenia. Schizophrenic subjects exhibit reduced PPI, and this feature has been modeled in mice. She will seek to estimate and identify the number of genetic factos and assess the interaction between these factors that leads to the variable PPI response. By doing this, Dr. Sivagnanasundaram hopes to gain knowledge regarding the number of genes involved in schizophrenia. Program Area: SCHIZOPHRENIA/PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS\Schizophrenia |
