Robert J. Thoma, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2002) of New Mexico VA Health Care System (VA), will investigate whether there is a relationship between cortical thickness and volume of temporal lobe structures such as the hippocampus, and the degree of sensory gating in both normal control subjects and patients with schizophrenia, as research has demonstrated reduced “gating” of early sensory input in patients with schizophrenia. The project will enhance our knowledge of structural changes related to auditory sensory gating in schizophrenia. Program Area: SCHIZOPHRENIA/PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS\Schizophrenia |
