Albert Hung Choy Wong, M.D. (Young Investigator 2002) of Centre For Addiction and Mental Health, is capitalizing on powerful genomics technologies including gene expression microarrays to discover genetic factors in schizophrenia using a rat model for schizophrenia with a neonatal ventral hippocampal (VH) lesion. He will study the developmental changes in rat brain gene expression by using microarray profiling of mRNA derived from rat brain tissue, and studying rats at various stages of development. Study results may yield information on possible mechanisms or disturbances in function that are related to the pathophysiology or etiology of schizophrenia. Program Area: SCHIZOPHRENIA/PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS |
