Zhongming Zhao, Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2008) of Virginia Commonwealth University, will apply a systems biology approach to perform the first systematic investigation of the features of gene network, gene expression pattern, and functional biases (Gene Ontology terms) in schizophrenia. More than five hundred genes have been reported with positive or negative association with schizophrenia. The wealth of this information, along with the complexity nature of psychiatric disorders, provides us a challenging opportunity for the investigation of molecular and cellular mechanisms in schizophrenia. Program Area: SCHIZOPHRENIA/PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS\Schizophrenia |
