Zoran A. Zimolo, M.D., Ph.D. (Young Investigator 2001) of Yale University School of Medicine, will examine rates of bone loss in patients with schizophrenia and depression, in comparison with controls. The mediators of bone loss will be assessed and the impact of treatment on the rate of bone destruction will be determined. This work is of importance because bone fractures are a major cause of dysfunction and death among patients with schizophrenia and depression.
